Angelo Patera, known as PAT, was born on January 27, 1983, in Copertino, a town in the Province of Lecce, Italy. From an early age, he showed a strong passion for drawing and painting, beginning to create artworks using reclaimed materials from his family’s carpentry workshop.

A versatile and instinctive artist, PAT works spontaneously on various media, including canvas, ceramics, wood, and other recycled materials.

His works are distinguished by the use of pure colors and sharp forms, expressing a direct visual language that satirizes and criticizes contemporary society and its complex relationship with the media. His art is influenced by Picasso’s cubism, Pop Art, and underground culture, often featuring visual references to tribal masks and an aesthetic that blends modern and primitive elements.

In 2004, he earned his diploma from the Institute of Art in Lecce, Italy, specializing in ceramic decoration.

The following year, he further honed his skills during an internship in Deruta, a town in the Province of Perugia, Italy, where he experimented with advanced decorative techniques and the unique RAKU firing process.

He actively participates in the artistic scene of Lecce and in Italy, performing in cultural events, live performances, and spontaneous painting sessions, and is known for his expressive immediacy and audience engagement.

Currently, PAT continues his artistic journey in his studio in Leverano, constantly exploring the expressive possibilities offered by painting, graffiti, ceramics, and carpentry.
